About UPC

There are two types of banks in this industry; Issuers who issue cards to cardholders, and Acquirers who process the transactions. The relationship between Acquirers and merchants is undergoing rapid change. Increasingly, the bank has little or no direct contact with the merchants it serves. Instead, Independent Sales Organizations (ISO) have the primary relationship with the merchant. While ISO’s cannot serve as merchant Acquirers because they are not part of the banking system, they now control, by some estimates, three quarters of the merchant relationships in the United States.

UPC has been assisting merchants with their bankcard acceptance needs since 1997. We're a registered External Sales Agent for American Express as well to meet that goal.
